“I thought I’d find you here.”
Charlotte stood up quickly, alarmed at the distinguished man’s presence. “Shouldn’t you be with the others?”
Gregory ignored the question, neared her, ran his fingers through her hair, and shook it loose. Inhaling her exotic perfume, he studied Charlotte’s face before planting a kiss on her welcoming lips.
She caught hold of him as his hand glanced down her back, undoing the zip of her ball gown.
Charlotte gasped as she pulled away slightly, “No! Have you forgotten your fiancée, my sister?”
“You know I can’t marry her. I love you. Elope with me.”
