Flash Fiction Friday - 20 September: Waiting

It's Friday so that means time for a flash.Flash Fiction Friday. A group of awesome writers and a given picture are allowed one hundred words only to write their own version. Please show the flashers some love by reading and commenting. This week mine is called Waiting Enjoy
Flashers

Carla flopped down into a chair, exhausted. She had given her best, danced until the blocks in her shoes had almost crushed her toes. Today meant so much.

After a car accident had injured her badly a year ago Carla thought she may have to give up her beloved hobby. She felt very unsure about her future.

Dancing however had been the spur and after several months of therapy put her ballet shoes on again. Today had been what all the months of rehearsal had been all about. Auditioning for Prima Ballerina. Now she had the dreaded waiting for results.

  5. The tension you mounted in the story is palpable. As if there isn't enough pressure for ballerina's to begin with, yours was heightened because of her accident. Great construction, flow, pace and angst. I felt her anxiety. Loved this flash, Naomi. Loved it!:) xo

  6. A lovely story of a young woman who refuses to give up her dreams. It's a timeless lesson - quitters never win and winners never quit.

  10. After her ordeal, she must be anxious as hell. I and the reader can only hope she lands the position.
