Flashers
Carla flopped down into a chair, exhausted. She had given her best, danced until the blocks in her shoes had almost crushed her toes. Today meant so much.
After a car accident had injured her badly a year ago Carla thought she may have to give up her beloved hobby. She felt very unsure about her future.
Dancing however had been the spur and after several months of therapy put her ballet shoes on again. Today had been what all the months of rehearsal had been all about. Auditioning for Prima Ballerina. Now she had the dreaded waiting for results.

Brilliant flash, Naomi. I for one, understand all about her pain and dread
ReplyDeleteLove the backstory you created here. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteOoo Great Flash! I hope she gets positive results!
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope she gets the job!!
ReplyDeleteI could feel the passion for the dance she just delivered. Great Flash. xx
ReplyDeleteThe tension you mounted in the story is palpable. As if there isn't enough pressure for ballerina's to begin with, yours was heightened because of her accident. Great construction, flow, pace and angst. I felt her anxiety. Loved this flash, Naomi. Loved it!:) xo
ReplyDeleteA lovely story of a young woman who refuses to give up her dreams. It's a timeless lesson - quitters never win and winners never quit.
ReplyDeleteOh hope she gets the part! Lovely flash about this young woman's determination!
ReplyDeleteI love to read inspiring pieces and I hope she gets her dream
ReplyDeleteLoved this and I am so glad she kept her dream a live and didn't give up. I hope she gets the part and continues on with her dream. :)
ReplyDeleteAfter her ordeal, she must be anxious as hell. I and the reader can only hope she lands the position.
