Susie?” Reece called out.

“You found me, then,” came the reply.  The voice was familiar to Reece but she never turned around.

“I was worried. I heard about ...”

Susie cut his sentence short. “I saw no reason for you to hurry back. With sadness she touched her cheek.

Gently turning her he studied  Susie’s face, and kissing her reassuringly before drawing her closer to him. “Don’t ever worry sweetheart.” He kissed her lips. “True, I am a glamour photographer, but that’s just work with models. Your scar does not change anything  You’re the woman I love.”

Cool breezes fluttered through her long dark hair as Princess Iona perched, naked on a rock amid the waves. Clouds were forming as though in agreement with the Elders of Erythrea, who said her waiting seemed futile.

“Troy’s gone,” they had told her. “You have Royal duties and should stop dreaming. Curb your rebellious ways."

True, I am a rebel, Iona thought as she preened herself. My markings are proof of that. However I have known love. And Troy promised to return. Looking up she saw a ship on the horizon. Her heart flipped. Is it? Could it be ...?

Tears stained the fair cheeks of Fallon’s face as she fell down, hair strewn, crying. Realizing that she didn’t  belong, she felt so unhappy. Expectancies were too much. All she longed for now was Connor and home.

The others had persuaded Fallon to have a tattoo. Maybe she could love it’s beauty but what mattered was the others did not seem to care about how much the needle would hurt her fragile skin. Trust was  broken and she had run away.

“I heard your call,” a voice suddenly said. “Please come back with me to the fae community.”

Nakhti felt as though he was sinking in a sea of despair. He barely remembered his own name now since becoming an outcast. Not only by his family, but also from the whole Igai tribe after the onset of ‘the disease’ that caused a hideous body and facial appearance. No one understood and many feared the way he had become.

Now he resided outside the boundaries of the  Dakhleh Oasis, banished to the mountains of Egypt, living off the land. Night after night, he stayed awake, fearing attacks from the mountain wolves. Yet wondering whether without love, dying was better.

Josie could hardly see her own hand in front of her face as she took small stumbling steps in the darkness. She tripped and almost fell over a sheet of some kind and immediately bent down, gathering up the offending article and slinging it over her shoulder.

Something sharp grazed her. She screamed, as blood trickled down her. Feeling around she snatched up a bladed object and brandished it wildly trying to clear her way of obstructions.

A door creaked open and her husband called, “Come out Josie, before you get hurt. I told you I’d clear the old gardening shed.”
