Flash Fiction Friday - 31 January: Entice Me

It's Friday again so time for another flash. Awesome writers have a given picture and one hundred words precisely to come up with a piece of flash fiction inspired by it. Flashers

Joe  had just started doing some tummy crunches when Sylvia walked in. Her long auburn hair was tied back and she wore short shorts and a vest top.

He grinned as she flopped down catching Joe mid crunch. “I missed you,” he said.
He lifted his had and slipped his arms around her waist drawing Sylvia closer to him.

With hands at on his head she planted a kiss that spoke of longing on his lips.

“Mmm, Sylvia, you entice me. However I need to get the room ready for the yoga class that will be here any minute.”

Thursday Tasters - 30 January: Pool Games

It's Thursday again so that means time for a taste of some awesome writing. A group of writers allow you to sample a short excerpt of their wonderful writing. It may be from a completed work or WIP. So please show some love by following the link, reading and leaving a comment. This week my taster is a bit more from my WIP  Pool Games.   Enjoy

In this excerpt Melissa and her friend Fiona are in the back garden sitting on loungers having drinks and a catch up chat.

Out of the corner of her eye, Melissa saw her father appear. He was a tall distinguished looking man in his early fifties with tanned skin, brown eyes, a strong jawline. He was greying, both on head and chest. His arms looked strong and he was clean-shaven. Like a lot of men however what ruined the athletic appearance was the beginnings of a  paunch.

He looked over with a beaming smile, trying to suck his stomach in at the same time. “Don’t mind me girls. I’m just going to take a swim.”

Melissa cringed when she saw the ridiculous gaudy red and green Hawaiian style swimming shorts he was wearing. She waved idly over at him and turned her attentions back to face Fiona.

Splash! Mr Wheeler dove into the pool and took a few strokes then came to a halt. He bobbed his head up out of the water and grinned."Hey Fiona. You should take a dip," he called over. "The water is lovely." He knew it was no good trying to persuade Melissa, seeing as she still had her fear of the water after a childhood incident.

"It seems like a good idea but I didn't bring a towel," she called back.
She rolled her eyes, and picked up her glass again while Melissa looked questioningly at her.

Her father took up with his swim again, leaving Melissa saying, "Oh Fiona, you'd better watch out. I think my Dad has his eye on you. You know what he's like. He's a sucker for a pretty face."

Fiona laughed. "You really think so? Oh my, what do you think about that Sugar?"

“ I just need to check my emails,” Cheryl called to her husband who was waiting impatiently.

“Well ... okay, but hurry up or we’ll be late for work,” Tom replied, watching the time.

“ I will." Cheryl slipped off her jacket and sat down. She opened the laptop and switched on. After skimming through her emails she logged in to their online bank account. She immediately spotted an unfamiliar payment. Gasping loudly, she called out to her husband.

“Please can you explain this ?"

“What’s the matter?”

The payment read 'Subscription to Pleasure City Swingers’.

“Ah. I meant to tell you ...”

Blurb:
Pool Games is all about the life and loves of Melissa Wheeler, with many twists along the way. In this excerpt Melissa has just arrived home from a finishing school in Europe.

‭"‬I'm home‭!" ‬Melissa's cheery voice,‭ ‬rang through the long hallway as she rushed into the house she loved so much,‭ ‬with white high heels clattering on the polished floor.‭ ‬She dropped her bag and looked to see who was around.‭ ‬Trixie,‭ ‬her little cocker spaniel,‭ ‬skidded up to her and jumped up,‭ ‬yapping excitedly.

Melissa stood about 5‘8 inches tall with a very slender build and fair skin. She took after her mother with sparkling blue eyes and blond hair that she wore long; the locks tumbled over her shoulders. She turned many a man’s head but did not have any desire for a long term relationship at present, although her father secretly hoped she would get together with the son of a local businessman.

The chauffeur followed Melissa indoors;‭ ‬he walked slower,‭ ‬struggling to carry her suitcases.‭ ‬He sighed,‭ ‬wondering why women had to take so many bags time they went away.‭ ‬Not that he ever complained out loud,‭ ‬but as he got older they seemed to get heavier.‭

‭Seeing the struggle he was having Mrs Wheeler took pity and said,“‬Just put them down there Robert,‭” indicating to the foot of the staircase. “Thank you for collecting Melissa.” Then turning to her daughter ‬she hugged Melissa.‭ “‬Your Dad and I have missed you honey,‭ ‬and Fiona has been calling daily to find out if you were home yet.”‭ ‬She stood back and gave her the once over.‭ “‬Melissa we’ll have to fatten you up a bit,‭ ‬you’ve lost weight.‭”

“Oh Mom,‭ ‬you always say that,‭” ‬Melissa laughed giving her a quick peck on the cheek.‭ “‬I’m going up to have a shower and change.‭ ‬It has been a very long journey.‭ ‬And I’ll phone Fiona to put her out of her misery.‭” ‬She gave a little laugh.‭ “‬She’ll probably be round later.‭ Can she stay for‬ dinner?‭”

Flashers

This week mine is called The Find Enjoy

Upset about earlier findings Reginald walked into the night ending up at Athanea forest. His attention was drawn to something glimmering amongst the leaves and dead twigs on the ground. At first he thought it was some kind of bauble or jewellery dropped. On closer inspection though it seemed too big.

Reginald picked the bright shining disc up, having difficulty in holding it, especially as it increased in warmth and started spinning round emitting a strange futuristic glow. He couldn’t help but look into it however, and there, within a misty spectrum Reginald realized what his future would be.

Thursday Tasters

Blurb:
George is an old man who tends graves at the local church. Little does he know that today will be unlike any other.

Early morning brought with it a brisk breeze and the sun seemed to be hiding behind the clouds. George heaved a huge sigh as he awoke from a restless night’s sleep. He blinked twice; screwed up his eyes on opening them and yawned noisily  The bedsprings groaned as the old man rolled over onto his back and reached out to touch his wife.

When his hand touched the cold unrumpled sheet however, an unhappy tidal wave of realization washed through him, just like it had done so many times before. His wife was gone, having died two years ago, though he still found himself not quite believing that he would never be able to talk to her again. Elizabeth had been the love of his life; his soul mate, and he missed her so much it hurt.

Easing himself carefully up and out of bed, at the only speed his aching joints would allow, George headed off to the bathroom and followed through his ablutions regime with monotonic repetition before dressing amid sighs and groans in age old yet still comfortable clothes.

“I need to talk to you..” Carly looked at her husband with the same affection as when she had first  seen him three years ago. Rob had rugged looks that could arouse her in an instant. He carried chains today over a taut shirtless body and sported jeans that tightly hugged his slender hips.

“What’s the problem. Can we talk later?  I think a calf that's due to be born needs turning,

“Okay, but later I want to discuss new wallpaper. I’ve heard of taking your work home, bit I feel like I’m living in a cowshed.”

There were only a few people in the bar when the young woman in high heels and a mini so short it displayed the majority of her shapely legs entered. All eyes turned to watch as she sauntered over to the bar with hips swaying and a confident port.

She perched herself on the vacant stool next to Dan, her mini skirt riding up so high that her suspenders became visible. She threw him a sultry sideways glance from beneath her  blond hair, and her eyes asked  for a drink.

“What can I get you ...?” Dan’s voice stumbled in speaking the words as he noticed her strap drop, revealing a small colourful tattoo.

“Papillon. Like my tattoo. I’d love a Martini.” Slowly trailing a well manicured finger up the stem of Dan’s beer bottle, she stroked it around her bottom lip before sucking. Then she sipped seductively on her Martini, but started as he put his hand on her thigh.

“Easy tiger,”she laughed. “I think it’s time for bed.”

They left the bar holding hands, not noticing a man in the shadows who had been taking pictures of them and was now on his phone ...
