The Show Must Go On
The aria ended and the applause was deafening. Anna took a deep curtsey as she clutched the black sash tightly. The pain in her ankle was almost debilitating, but she was a trouper and stuck by the old adage “The Show Must Go On.”
She glanced wistfully up to the box seat where George would have sat.” Why you darling?” she screamed in silence.
But he was gone and she was alone, virtually unscathed. This was her first performance after the car accident. Anna remembered his final words. “Keep singing Anna, I’ll hear you.”
Then George closed his eyes forever.
