Flash Fiction Friday #2 - December 16

One hundred words to tell a story inspired by a picture
Here is my version

Time For A Change

It’s time.” Chuck leaned around the corner and saw Lance leaning as if in a daze against the wall.  “Jesus! Aren’t you dressed yet?”

“What does it look like?” Lance snapped back. I can’t go through with this Chuck. What the fuck shall I do?”

Chuck watched with longing as Lance ran his fingers slowly down his naked torso. He wanted the fingers to be his own.
His voice softened. “I understand, really I do. What we had was special. But we knew it was wrong. You have a future, and Candy is on her way to the church."

  1. Awe, but he shouldn't marry Candy if he loves Chuck

  2. I agree with Sara. Poor Candy. That's not fair to anybody.

  3. Oh no Naomi, deep secrets in this one. The church? I hope someone decides to be true to himself and be honest with his feelings, to the man and to the girl.

  4. I feel sorry for Chuck. It's what happens when you try to "suck" a straight guy out of the closet.

  7. Uh-oh, this marriage already reeks of failure. He will always be in love with someone else. Great story.

  8. Bummer, that sucks. He should kick Candy to the curb so he doesn't have to live a lie. Great post.

  9. Oh, my. Great twist Naomi. As one who spent a few years as a wedding photographer, I now have a marvelous image in my head of poor Candy being left at the alter--an infrequent event that livens up the dull existence of the person stuck taking pictures of someone else's wedding. Thanks for the memories, and I very much enjoyed your delightful post.

  12. Oh Ms Naomi, what a delicious twist you put on this FFF. Hmm, personally - I think Lance should try to talk Candy into a menage. I mean why can't he have his cake and eat it too?( I just love that expression ). Great FFF - Loved it.

  14. Great interpretation. And there are still many out there that feel this way..that do not accept who they are until they are faced with this...I would love to know what happens with these two.

  15. Wow, that marriage is heading for the crapper. Poor Candy and poor guys...they should be honest about who they are. Nice twist and view of the picture.

  16. You transformed that picture into a full story. An excellent accomplishment with such few words, The story continued to grow in my mind from the seeds you planted.
