Guest Interview - 1 November: Krystal Shannan

Today I have Krystal Shannan, a wonderful writer, visiting my blog. I'm so pleased to have her here.

Come in honey.

Hi everyone

I’m so excited to be here on Naomi’s blog today!
First of all, I should say a big thank you for helping me celebrate the release of my debut book, Open House: Pool of Souls Book 1.

That’s my pleasure. First though, can we find out a bit about the writer? J

Okay then, you asked for it.

I was born, raised, and currently live in TEXAS. I am married to a wonderful man who supports my dream of writing and allows me to spend many evening and weekend hours glued to my laptop. During the day I moonlight as an elementary music teacher. In addition to a doting husband, a young daughter is also part of the picture and keeps us both hopping! An ornery little Welsh Corgi completes our household.

I choose to write romance because that’s the stuff my dreams are made of…. There’s simply no other explanation. I love the paranormal genre and the contemporary genre. Werewolves and vampires and Fae, OH MY! I have a historical idea rumbling around in my head, but I’m just not sure.

I’ve been obsessed with Greek history since high school and was not surprised at all when the makings for OPEN HOUSE: Pool of Souls began to form. I wanted the Greek gods to be powerful and in control of the natural world, but at the same time be relatable to this period in time.  I have Ares using a laptop and Aphrodite reading up on social media. (Which by the way she does have her own Facebook Fan page now!) So even though OPEN HOUSE is a paranormal, everything has a very contemporary feel.

I have two more Pool of Souls books planned so far and more to come. A holiday contemporary novella is releasing this December and I have another paranormal series getting closer to launch about several families of werewolves and other Fae creatures. The first in a trilogy is slated for summer, 2013 – It’s a spin- off of the Merlin legend. I also have a contemporary series in the planning stages…. Therefore, you can tell I have a lot of writing to do. However, here is where you'll find me.

Wow. You do have a lot going on. I wish you the very best with it. So, on to your book of the moment. What can you tell us of that?

Why should you read my book?  Well, if you enjoy romance and the 'meant to be' you've come to the right place. If you don't like romance... I don't have much to offer you. Sorry! But, if you like fabulous love stories, alpha males, sexy Greek gods, sassy goddesses, and more! I've got that in spades.
Here’s the mythos behind Pool of Souls….

Long ago the Titans ruled the world. When their children took power, most Titans were killed or banished forever. Aphrodite was the only Titan allowed to coexist on Mt. Olympus with the new Greek gods and goddesses. She was allowed to stay, because like it or not, she could not be banished or killed without destroying the entire human race.

Before Gaia disappeared deep into a secret part of the earth, she brought Aphrodite out of the sea, creating her from a piece of her murdered husband. She connected her daughter to humanity so intrinsically that Aphrodite could never be lost. Her precious daughter would be treasured and revered by humanity for all eternity as the Goddess of Love.
Aphrodite balances human love and passion. Her mother gifted her with the ability to track soul mates through the centuries and guide the immortal souls of humans to their eternal mates. Gaia also gave her a special pool to house and keep the soul mates safe.

OPEN HOUSE begins the saga of Aphrodite….

Intrinsically woven into the fabric of human existence, Aphrodite, Titan Goddess of Love and Passion, dedicates herself to matching soul mates.
Rebecca Carol and Robert Corvin missed their original chance to bond when Ares, God of War, took control of Robert's career ten years ago. Their souls have naturally pulled them back together for a second chance at love, but...How far will the gods go to get their own way?
Will divine influence create another perfect match or will it tear them apart forever?

Here’s a peek at OPEN HOUSE….

“Ditee, my most beautiful cousin. Do you have anything to drink, love?”
Aphrodite smiled at Dionysus. “You know where the wine is.”
“Ah, yes, but where have you hidden the good stash?” He sauntered into her bedroom and reclined on a chaise at the foot of her bed.
“If I told you, it would no longer be a stash.”
“Touché, but I come with a gift of warning.”
Aphrodite’s gaze narrowed. She sat up on her four-poster bed and tossed the book on social media she had been reading to the floor.
Dionysus stared at the book and grinned. “Joining the twenty-first century finally. Good for you.” He chuckled and folded his arms up behind his head.
“Dionysus.” Aphrodite breathed deeply to calm herself. “What warning?”
“A little birdie told me Ares was bitching about your meddling, and two of his lackeys just left for the mortal plane.”
“These souls have been wandering for three lifetimes.” She knew her eyes were turning white, and she could feel her body temperature rising as her anger bubbled to the surface. “How dare he–”
“Whoa, Ditee, let me leave first before you go melting anything!” He laughed and jumped up from the chaise. “Happy hunting. I think Ares is hiding up at his mom’s place.”

Okay hon, I’m hooked. Where can we buy?

I just want to say thank you for letting me speak about my work. I hope to return the favour someday. J
